Théâtre du Rêve presents the story of General Alex Dumas, one of the most celebrated generals in the French Revolution. Born in the colony of St. Domingue to a French father and an African mother, Dumas came to France and rose to prominence under the revolutionary ideals of Liberty, Equality, and Fraternity. From glorious victories to wrongful imprisonment, he lived the kind of adventures his son, the writer Alexandre Dumas, would immortalize in classic novels like The Count of Monte Cristo and The Three Musketeers.

Who was General Alex Dumas, and how did his life shape the work of his famous son? History, power, slavery, and revolution all play a role in this story of a son discovering the truth of his father’s legacy.
