We’re thrilled to announce a partnership with Hush Harbor Lab to workshop a new, filmed version of our 2019 play, Code Noir: Les Aventures du premier Comte de Monte Cristo (Black Code: The Adventures of the first Count of Monte Cristo). We’re laying the groundwork for a film of Code Noir, shooting this winter and premiering in March, 2022. Be the first to hear our updated script at a special Zoom public reading on Sunday, Oct. 10, 2021 at 3 p.m. Reserve your tickets now!
Code Noir is based on the life of general Alex Dumas, the son of a French nobleman and an enslaved African woman in the colony of St. Domingue (current-day Haiti). Written by TdR artistic director Carolyn Cook, Code Noir features Atlanta actor/director Thandiwe Thomas DeShazor as Dumas.
It’s an honor to be working on this script with our friends at Hush Harbor! Hush Harbor Lab founders Amina McIntyre and Addae Afura Moon describe their Lab as “a brave space for the development and production of new and innovative digital, live, and multi-media performance work by Black Atlanta-based artists.”
Join us on October 10 from the comfort of your own home, as we launch a season of adventure! Suggested donation $5 – $25. Reserve your tickets here!
