A sure-fire 45-minute, bilingual crowd-pleaser, PINOT & AUGUSTINE is a classic, family-friendly
clown duo inspired by the golden age of Circus. This show bubbles over with physical comedy, virtuosity and musical surprises from the sublime to the ridiculous: from lyrical melodies on a musical saw to pratfalls and a whoopee cushion.
Performers Mark Jaster and Sabrina Mandell, founders of Happenstance Theater, bring decades of experience in theatrical clowning and physical comedy to the stage. Jaster trained with 20th-century masters of mime Etienne Decroux and Marcel Marceau, along with careful observation of Charlie Chaplin, Buster Keaton, and Harpo Marx. He served as teaching assistant to Mr. Marceau in a series of seminars in Michigan, and he teaches frequently in Artist residencies, theatres, and academic programs. Mandell studied Lecoq pedagogy with Dody Disanto. She has taught at the Shakespeare Theatre, Everyman Theatre in Baltimore, Round House Theatre, Duke Ellington School of the Arts, and the University of North Carolina School of the Arts. She is also a visual artist, graphic designer and poet.
