This season, TdR is bringing the theatre experience

TO YOUR CLASSROOM!

You and your students are invited to dive into French, world history, and literature with our new bilingual film, Code Noir: les aventures du premier Comte de Monte Cristo.  Code Noir is based on the life of general Alex Dumas, hero of the French Revolution and father of novelist Alexandre Dumas.

If you saw Code Noir live in 2019, you know it’s a thrilling ride through French history, with a nod to novelist Dumas and a cameo appearance by Napoleon Bonaparte! It’s an ideal springboard for lessons and conversations about Black history, the French Revolution, and classic literature.

We understand that right now, most schools aren’t able to gather students for field trips. So, let us bring the field trip to you!

We’ve designed a package for you that includes:

• access to the Code Noir film,
• a detailed study guide with lesson plans and activity suggestions,
• and a bonus talk-back video featuring the cast and creative team!

We’re making this package available to schools for any one-week period in the months of March and April, 2022! During that week, you can show the film and talkback video to as many classes as you like, as often as you like, using a password-protected link. The study guide and resource lists are yours to keep.

Cost for this package is per school, not per classroom! We encourage cross-departmental sharing with history, literature, and theatre programs. Maximum fee is $200 per school, with reduced rates for groups of fewer than 100. The package is free to Title I schools.
