As many of you already know, on December 3 we lost Chris Kayser, a truly wonderful human being and a dear friend. Chris was an integral part of Théâtre du Rêve, and without him, our company would not be the vibrant force it is today.
So it is with heavy hearts that all of us at Théâtre du Rêve honor the passing—and celebrate the extraordinary life—of one of our founding artists, Chris Kayser.
Chris graced our very first production in January 1996 and brought his immense talent to an incredible array of roles, from absurdist comedy to classical drama to world premieres. A true artist and fluent French speaker, Chris embodied professionalism, skill, intelligence, humor, and a radiant joy that enriched every rehearsal and performance.
Chris was more than a performer; he was a cherished friend, a mentor, and an inspiration to all who had the privilege of working with him. His legacy lives on in the stories he told and the lives he touched. Rest peacefully, cher ami—you will forever be in our hearts.
We are deeply grateful to all who have reached out during this difficult time. Our hearts are with everyone whose lives Chris touched, whether through his performances on our stage or in the many other ways he impacted those who knew him. His legacy will live on in all of us.
A celebration of Chris’s life will be held at The Alliance Theater in January, 2025.
